Location
We play on most Wednesday evenings in a large sports hall. All games are adult doubles with a mix of genders.
We cater for both advanced players who prefer intensive and competitive play and those who prefer a general mix of games.
We use Spond for easy and convenient communications and session booking, while respecting your privacy.
Located in Romford, with easy access from across Havering and East London. Ample on-site parking and convenient local bus connections.
FAQs
There is a non-refundable £10 joining fee that is paid up front.
Each badminton session has a £6 fee paid in advance.
First you must request to join the club and, once approved, pay the £10 joining fee. Then you will be invited to reserve a spot at a weekly session. Please do not turn up expecting to play otherwise.
Yes. We understand that you may want to assess if the club's standard of play is right for you before paying the joining fee, so, yes you are welcome to watch a session, see how we are organised and meet other members. However, due to our insurance, we cannot allow you to play until you have signed up as a member and been approved. Please email us if you wish to attend and watch a session.
A racquet and any refreshments you require. Shuttles and nets are supplied.

No. Children and young people under the age of 18 would place a large administrative burden on our small club.
Yes. We are not suitable for beginners and all new members will be assessed against the below minimum standard.
Basic Skills

Demonstrates proper racquet grip and basic footwork.

Can play a variety of overhead shots from the rear of the court.

Can play lifts/lobs and flat drives from the front and mid-court.

Can play controlled shots close to the net.

Shows awareness of court position and moves around the court without causing risk to other players.
Game awareness & experience

Demonstrates knowledge of scoring system and basic rules.

Understands how to serve correctly without needing instructions (diagonally across court, underarm, contact below waist height, both feet in contact with the floor and not touching any court lines).

Makes appropriate shot selections (not just hit and hope).

Comfortable with speed of play.

Can maintain rallies of 6+ shots.
One court is used by advanced-level players, who manage picks for matches themselves. We use a digital pegboard app to allocate players to all other courts.
Yes, but they must be at least 18-years old.
When attending a session, enter the school grounds via the main entrance on Brentwood Road. At the end of the road, turn right and continue until you see a car park outside the sports hall building. The exact location is also pinned on Google Maps.
